Becoming The Change: Your Desire To Win At Life

“I am lucky that whatever fear I have inside me, my desire to win is always stronger.”

-Serena Williams

Legendary Tennis player Serena Williams is arguably one of the greatest athletes to have ever lived. Her accomplishments on and off the court are staggering. In today’s quote she reminds us that we all live with some sort of fear. This fear can be be fear of failure, fear of loss or just fear of the unknown. However she mentions it is her desire to win that is always stronger. That desire to me is her will, her growth mindset and her resolve. Her will to win not just in the game of tennis but in the game of life. She believes in herself and her abilities.

So do you desire to win at your own life? We only have one go around on this planet (as far as I know) and I believe we need to make the most of it. I always have a morning post that I put out on all of my social media accounts that serves as a reminder for others but most importantly to myself that: Every moment matters, make the most of your moments today. We go through so many moments throughout our day but often times we just casually let them pass by. We fail to recognize or embrace the significance and/or take for granted moments like having breakfast or dinner with our families, the rides to school or practice or the vacations we go on because we think they will last forever which is not the case. Nobody has a crystal ball to see if and when that will be the last time you’d all be together to do some of those things with one another. I’m sure if you knew when that last moment was or would be, you’d cherish each of these moments more.

So instead of worrying, start living; start enjoying and celebrating life. For me, that is my desire, to win at life: enjoying every moment I am here and impacting the lives of as many people as I can especially my daughter Alexis. Having this type of mindset will help me to overcome life’s unexpected challenges that come my way. How do you choose to live your life?

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
