“We share more common ground with those who may seem different on the surface than we often realize. Our shared values and experiences unite us in ways we may not always recognize.”
-The Daily Coach
Often times I wonder why we all seem so different. Not that that is a bad thing but more so when it comes to politics and certain viewpoints and how we choose to act. When I really think about it, what really clouds our differences, our uniqueness, is the manner in which we share our thoughts and feeling. We all fail to recognize we are all a part of the same world, whether it is here in the United States as Americans or not.
We get so lost and lose the meaning behind whatever it is we are trying to say or express due in part to what we see each other at face value. We forget that there is so much more to each of us and more often than not there is so much more to us beneath the surface. We are sons, daughters, brothers and sisters who are more connected to one another than we realize. We may differ on certain topics but what is a common thread that is inner woven and connects us all are those shared values and experiences that today’s quote reminds us of. Those are what unites us much more than we realize.
We need one another in more ways than one. It isn’t always apparent when we are too busy spewing hate in our remarks and our actions. When we value more the number of likes and reposts vs respecting the humanity, beauty and uniqueness that each of us all have to offer, we lose so much more than we realize. We are more alike than not. So let us try to find ourselves once more and rather than dismiss the differences, embrace them. Time is being wasted on the negative where the focus should be more on the positive and looking for ways to strengthen and honor the relationship and/or bond that we have with one another. These relationships have much more importance than we realize and we need to flip this debilitating script before we not only lose the love between one another but also the love we have within ourselves.
