Becoming The Change: Becoming The Best “You” That You Can Be

“Many of us define success as money, power, and fame. I view success as being the best possible “You” that you can be.”

-The Daily Coach

More often than not, we apply a lot of unnecessary expectations and pressures on ourselves. Our minds have a tendency to give us a warped perception as to what success actually is. We let material things like money and possessions become our drivers in life losing sight as to what really matters. Even non-material things like what is mentioned in today’s quote of power and fame cause for a lack of a better phrase: a ruckus. And the funny thing is none of these “things” can go with us when our time is said and done on this planet. We will have nothing to show for it and these are not the type of things we want to be remembered by.

The central message for today is that success is not found in those possessions that live outside of us, it is through those things that we possess within us: our moral compass, our personal brand and our mark/imprint we want to leave within the hearts and souls of all those we encounter over our lifetime. Life as we know it is a process. It is about the journey, not necessarily the destination. However, in this instance I believe it is a little of both. We do have to keep our eyes on both because we need to see how we are progressing and determine if we need to stay the course or alter our route to becoming the best version of ourselves.

At the end of the day, we are all on similar paths. We just go at different paces and each of us face challenges that may stall our progression and knock us down. That is normal, so long as we remember that we must have the sheer will and desire to get back up and dust ourselves off. We owe that to ourselves and those that we love. They become our legacy and we need to be mindful of this at all times. We only get out of life what we put into it. So let’s take the time to define our own success and instead of letting success define us. It is the only way you can become the best “you” possible.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
