Becoming The Change: Not Making A Choice Can Be Just As Harmful As Making The Wrong One

“The cost of indecision is often more harmful than making the wrong choice.”

-The Daily Coach

One of the greatest things about living in this country is that we live in a democracy. We have opportunities that not all countries have. We also realize we are far from perfect. As we have come to realize, perfection is unattainable and not possible. However, this does not mean we stop continuing to evolve and become the best version of ourselves. We are trying to be the best we can be to borrow a line from legendary basketball coach John Wooden. If we stop and think about it, we have many privileges in this country and one of our most important ones is our right to vote. We have the right to choose which officials, policies or bills we want to see come to fruition in this country. It doesn’t mean we will always have the desired outcome we want but if we don’t even go out and vote we will never know. Some wonder why does their voice matter? What can their one vote possibly do? We’ll for one thing, it does matter and your voice does too. One vote can transform the trajectory of your life and the lives of others.

Today’s quote focuses on by not deciding on something can be in fact more harmful than making a decision that could turn out to be wrong. In essence no decision is in fact a decision really. Take this example of voting or not voting for instance. If we are undecided on whether we will vote or not because we doubt how our one vote can changed anything, we may be affecting others unintentionally by doing nothing. We need to look at our vote is not just something that can impact our own lives alone but also the lives of others. Whether we choose to realize it our not, our future and our children’s children future depends on it. So if nothing else, vote with your conscience. Vote with with hope. Vote with your heart. Don’t let uncertainty and fear drive your indecisiveness. We have the opportunity to help change the narrative of our lives for the better. Just like you matter, your voice matters too.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
