Belief Is A Powerful Thing

Before you can have faith in something you must believe in it first. According to its official definition, when we believe in something we have the confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something. For the purpose of today’s quote by American author Jon Gordon what we believe in determines what we create.
It all starts and ends with us. We all envision ways in which we can make our lives or the lives of others better. As the saying goes “if we believe it, we can achieve it.” Believing in something allows for creation and creation allows for it to be brought into existence. Many of the things that benefit our lives today, that we sometimes take for granted, all started with someone believing in their idea and even in themselves will succeed.
When we become more aware of ourselves and what we are capable of it will open the floodgates to reaching our full potential. Jon Gordon believed that he could write books to inspire others to believe in themselves and their potential and over ten books later he continues to do just that. His creative juices continue to flow because he believes that what he is doing inspires others and I’m here to tell you it does. He has been one of the many influential people in my life that has helped me build a certain belief in myself that the content I am creating for others through the Our Moral Compass blog, weekly podcast and book will help others become better people and make this world a better place.
On the opposite side of things if we believe we cannot do something, that unfortunately is where creativity dies and never gets off of the ground. This way of thinking can be unproductive and if we are not careful, can start us on a downward spiral that can lead us into a dark place. Please make sure that you do not go down that pathway and especially make sure to always believe in others and their capabilities because often times when they are sharing with you something they believe is possible to create, they are looking for reassurance and your belief in them. We often see this in our children. No matter how silly the idea may seem, always show that you believe in them and encourage them that anything is possible.
Think of many of the famous inventors like Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham and Benjamin Franklin just to name a few. If they never believed in themselves or their ideas inventions like the light bulb, the telephone or the bifocals never would have been created. There is great potential in all of us just waiting to be tapped into and we all have a gifts that we need to share with the world. Believe in yourself and unlock that door to your own creativity.
