“If we long for our planet to be important, there is something we can do about it. We can make our world significantly the courage of your questions and by the depth of our answers.”
-Carl Sagan
Scientist Carl Sagan’s quote serves as a reminder and a call to action that it is all within our control to help our planet not only survive but thrive. This first part of the quote we have heard before through commercials encouraging us that it is within our own powers to save the environment. It is the second part of the quote that separates it from others however.
When we choose to recognize that we need to do something in order to take care of our planet we are able to courageously choose those questions that need answers to order to do just that. We know it is best to recycle but why don’t we? We know that global warming is truly a thing based on scientific data but why is it taking so long to do something about it? There are many more questions that are out there that need answers and it is time that we as a society take the time and effort to not only adequately answer them but do something about it. I encourage you to look towards ways toward doing your part by doing your own research in ways to help save the planet or be a part of a cause that is already out there doing the work now before it is too late.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards becoming more socially aware?
