Today’s quote by Poet Mark Nepo reminds us that life itself has quiet teachers that are everywhere from the markings within the ground that we walk upon to the daily happenings that occur within mother nature. Each experience that occurs has an affect on us in someway or another. These experiences continue to help shape us into who we are becoming; they also help redefine us too. Some may look at certain things that occur as signs of change or things that we have yet to discover about ourselves. There are pathways we have yet to walk down either because we are afraid to or just because we have yet to discover it. Nepo refers to this as the unlived portion of our lives. It has made me stop and think about what things I have yet to truly live in my life at this point in time. The signs I may have missed or simply dismissed. As a result I wonder this: Could this be those accidents or coincidences that he was referring to? Perhaps. Lots of things to think about and questions to answer along the way.
What I have realized as a read and reread this quote is that I need to become more self aware of those explicit connections that occur in each and every day through the different experiences I encounter. They really offer that direction in my life that I and I believe you are often looking for. Like Mark Nepo says in the closing of his quote that these are in essence the clues or the pages to our own story which is the story of our lives. And what offers us that direction that we seek is our own moral compass.
