Our Moral Compass: We Must Not Be Weak Or Timid To Ensure Freedom For All

“History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.”

-Dwight D. Eisenhower

Let’s face it: as a society around the world there is a lot of history that has forged what we know of as today. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But as President Dwight D. Eisenhower points out in today’s quote that we need to become more socially aware in realizing that our history only entrusts itself to the care of freedom to the strong and the bold. Those particular people possess the necessary skills towards being self disciplined. Being internally motivated while controlling their impulses in order to successfully regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in different situations.

When this happens consistently it better prepares us to hone those skills in helping to become more socially aware. We work on our ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures. It lends us toward empathizing with others and appreciating their diversity. This fosters a higher level of respect too.

Freedom is for everyone, not just certain someones. We all should have the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. We all should have the choice to live our life doing what we want to do and do what our heart desires. This is what true freedom is. So let’s write the history of tomorrow so that the opportunity of freedom is had by all.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better and becoming more socially aware?
