Our Moral Compass: Where Living Truly Occurs

“Live out of your imagination and not your history.”

-Stephen R. Covey

How do you live your life? Do you spend your time reminiscing in the past or do you envision the future and what it can be? American educator, author, businessman, and keynote speaker Stephen R. Covey’s quote encourages to not live out our lives in our history but to do so through our own imagination. It is for one thing more controllable and better yet it has not even happened yet. Unfortunately nothing that has already happened can ever go back and be changed so my question is why do we live in the past? It does nothing to change your future in doing so. It instead prevents you from truly living your own life; from living in the present moment.

It is through our imagination where new ideas are formed; new answers are created and new possibilities can soon become realities. We have one life to live and it is up to us to decide to do just that: live. We can only do this by making what we dream and choosing to do something about making things happen. Nothing has ever been accomplished by just sitting on the sidelines. Miracles don’t happen on their own without a little faith and effort in making strides for change to come about. Things can only happen if we keep moving forward. Let’s make sure to hold ourselves accountable in living our best lives and make the choice to truly live life to the fullest each and every day.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
