One of the Founding Fathers of the United States Benjamin Franklin was one of the wisest individuals our nation has ever seen and his quote for today is no different. It is even one that unfortunately that despite being said over two hundred years go is still something that resonates today. Justice will never be served until everyone is as outraged as to those who are. Those that are unaffected need to look at things through the lens of those that are being affected.
We see it in many facets in our world today: racial, gender, political and socio-economical divide. Some of us are affected by some of these, some by all, while others by none of it. For those that aren’t it is time to as they say, wake up and smell the coffee. The thing is this: at any point and time and at any moment for that matter the tables can turn in an instant. It can even happen to someone who is close to you: a friend, a spouse, a family member. We get so caught up on the me, me, me aspect of things that we fail to realize all of the injustices of the world.
It is time for us to wake up and realize that there are many people who continuously suffer from many of the injustices of the world. We need to open our hearts and minds to those that are bringing to light what it means to have justice in this world. One such person is former NFL linebacker and bestselling author Sam Acho whose podcast Athletes for Justice where his wide range of guests tell stories of justice and hope in a broken world. My hope is that you take the time to broaden your horizons and check this out. You will be glad you did. I was and it has forever changed the way I look at the injustices of the world and strive to prevent more from occurring.
