Our Moral Compass: Four Steps And Four Decisions To Make

“Process the negativity. Embrace the positivity. Pause and Pivot.”

-Doshia Woods

In today’s quote by University of Denver Women’s Basketball coach Doshia Woods she gives us a roadmap to dealing with negativity with some actionable steps to combat it if we make some important decisions. The first is for us to process the negativity. All this means is to basically come to terms with what was said. It does not mean you believe it but rather just acknowledge its presence. The negativity is just that and it is you that give it its power or lack there of. From there she says to then embrace the positivity because within every dark corner there is a silver lining and glimmer of hope. There is always something to be grateful for and when we take the time to do so the positivity just exudes from this moment. Next is the reminder to pause. Often times we just rush into a decision and make it based on impulse. This is something we must avoid doing. And finally we must choose to pivot. Pivot when it is necessary especially when you want you come out on top. Four steps. Four decisions. Each one, when used in succession, will lead to a better tomorrow.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
