Connectivity Is the Key

“Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something: they’re trying to find someone who’s going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your relationship as a place that go to give, and not a place that you go to take.”

Tony Robbins

It is very difficult to go through on this journey of life alone. In order to really establish a solid foundation for your own moral compass the area of developing the tendency Relationship Skills is key. How we relate to others through clear communication (which includes active listening), teamwork building and handling conflict resolutions constructively are just some of the factors to making the development of your relationship skills solid ones.

In reference to today’s quote when seeking out relationships it is important to answer the question are we seeking out someone to give something to that person or to take something from them? In other words are you trying to fill a void in their lives or yours first? Until I read this quote I never thought of it that way. When I self reflect based on my past experiences when developing relationships  I usually looked for what I needed first  to help make myself feel better and never really thought about what I could give to add to their lives. I have now learned to more intentional when building future relationships and for the ones I already have: always give of yourself first to others. Its not about me. Helping others will fill any void I may have within myself.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
