Becoming The Change: Believe in Tomorrow

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”

-Audrey Hepburn

When you go to plant a garden you must prep the soil, choose the right seeds to plant and then with the help of the sun and water nurture it into becoming that beautiful garden that you envisioned in the first place. That vision, as Actress Audrey Hepburn points out in today’s quote is that belief in what is possible tomorrow. Do we have a crystal ball to see that it will actually happen? No we don’t. However, all we need is some faith that all good things come to those that wait then that tomorrow you are searching for will be knocking at your front door sooner or later.

As an educator I look at that planting of the garden metaphor as being like what we would do as we are planting the seeds of tomorrow in the hopes that our students will be the change we wish to see in the world. Our vision of a better tomorrow can only become a reality if we see it through and take the necessary steps to make it happen. Our own moral compass will help get us there.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
