Becoming The Change: What It Means To Be Authentic

“To be authentic is to be at peace with your imperfections.”

-Simon Sinek

When we are being authentic we are being genuine. You may have heard of the phrase “the genuine article.” As author, speaker and podcaster Simon Sinek points out in today’s quote, it truly means we are at peace with our own imperfections. As much as we may hate to admit it, we have many imperfections. But to me it are those imperfections that make us who we are; it makes us unique or special. For some of us, to be comfortable in our own skin with these imperfections, it may take us a lifetime to come to terms with it. For others it may take very little time. For me, I have already come to understanding of what those imperfections are and at first they were hard to accept but over time I made the decision not to waste anymore time worrying about them. My focus is on becoming the best me possible, flaws and all. I don’t even try to hide them and let others know what they are so that they might feel inclined to do the same. It is time for us to stop searching for perfection and embrace who we are and our imperfections. Enough time has already been wasted.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
