Becoming The Change: Nothing But Trouble

“Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in this world, but it has not solved one yet.”

-Maya Angelou

When you think of a bad four letter word I’m sure most people’s mind will gravitate towards one that we often here said in movies or someone uses in conversation. To be clear, that is not the one I am referring to in today’s entry. It’s one that is not often said but is too often seen in today’s newsfeeds across the world. And as the saying goes: actions speak louder than words.

So what word is it? Hate. The word itself, what it means and the actions that go along with makes my stomach turn. To me it has no place in our hearts not in our minds. It serves no purpose and only adds more unnecessary hurt and despair to the lives of so many. In today’s quote poet Maya Angelou says how hate has caused many problems in this world but has yet to to solve any. Truer words have never been said. Hate solves nothing and makes us no better in throwing shade at others.

Let’s remember that we should be let love rule and drive out hate. Love has never been known intentionally cause problems but has been known to solve them. We need to flip this script and flip it quick for the sake of the present and for the sake of our future.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards becoming more socially aware?
