There is a saying that peace begins with us. This coincides with today’s quote by the legendary musical artist Marvin Gaye who said that if we can’t find it within us, we will never find it anywhere else. And you know what? He was absolutely right. We always talk or hear about the importance of relationships. While this reference most often refers to our relationships with others, it is the relationship with ourselves that matters most.
Just like we must love ourselves before we can love others, peace from within is needed before finding peace outside of us. You will never truly fill the void of peace through something or someone else if you do not already possess it with yourself. We often neglect our own personal needs that deserve as much (and sometimes more) that others. Let’s take the time to do this as it will set the stage for peace to thrive in a world that needs it more than ever.
