“Love your suffering. Do not resist it, do not flee from it. It is your aversion that hurts, nothing else.”
-Hermann Hesse
In today’s quote German Swiss poet Hermann Hesse essentially reminds us that in our lives there will always be good times along with the bad but we need to love all of those moments as we will overcome. He suggests that when we go through periods of suffering that we need to love it and not resist it or run away from it.
I think this is because no matter how much we try to suppress things or put them out of our mind they will find us and may make us hurt more in the long run. The possibility of how much hurt you may experience is in fact that fear. As President Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “All we have to fear is fear itself.
Remember that we can only control what we can control and that is ourselves. So let’s not fear the unknown as this will only consume us, negatively effecting our own mental health and well being.
