Becoming The Change: Stepping Back To See The World Around Us

“It’s when we step back from a single brushstroke, that we can see the whole painting.”

-Tamara Levitt

Let’s face it. Life can be and is complicated. We sometimes get so caught up in the day to day grind of things that we lose sight of the big picture. We lose sight of where we fit in the big picture. We lose sight of us. In today’s quote Tamara Levitt reminds us that we need to do what a painter/artist does from time to time when they are deep in their work on a masterpiece they are creating. That is, we need to take a step back to look at our progress and look at things (and in this case life) as a whole.

Each step we take in life puts us on a pathway towards becoming our best self. As those steps stack up over time it helps us to learn that life is all about the journey and not the destination. As each step contributes to getting to that destination so does each brushstroke contribute to the completion of the whole painting. We need to remember to stop from time to time and take that step back and reflect on where were currently are; where we have been and where it is we want to go; and also make any adjustments along the way.

Just like an artist controls the brushstrokes of their own painting we control the brushstrokes of our own life in all that we do. As soon as we become more self aware of this the more we can live our best life.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
