The Biggest Difference We Could Ever Make

What will matter most to you when it is you last day on this earth? How much money you have accumulated? How many social media followers you have on Facebook or Twitter? Or will it be the difference you have made in people’s lives? It is my sincere hope it is the latter because that is what will far outlast the others without a doubt. We must realize the positive and powerful impact we have on one another. This is what Author and Speaker Jon Gordon reminds us of in today’s quote. The challenge is how. On Lorri Freifeld wrote an article on 8 Tips for Developing Positive Relationships that I think we should always be mindful of during our daily interactions with others:

1. Accept and celebrate differences.

2. Listen effectively.

3. Give people your time.

4. Develop your communication skills. 

5. Manage mobile technology. 

6. Learn to give and take feedback. 

7. Learn to trust more. 

8. Develop empathy.

The article closes with a quote that Maya Angelou once said that I think is most appropriate in summarizing the impact that positive relationships can have on one another: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Let’s make sure we make others feel a sense of belonging, warmth and comfort when they are with us. That to me is what relationships are all about.
