“I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me. All I ask is that you respect me as human being.”
One of the most influential and inspiration people I have ever read about was legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson. He not only broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball but it was the way he conducted himself each and every day in spite of all that he had to deal with during the 1947 season in particular. His quote for today’s entry reminds us that it doesn’t matter if someone likes you or not. This can be in part of differing viewpoints or just the fact they look different from you. This is something we can’t control. However it is treating one another with respect as a human being is what matters most.
No one should be subjected to racial remarks or other unkind words spoken towards or about someone else just because they are different. There is no place for this level of disrespect. Everyone should be treated as equals as no one is better than someone else. Some of our world leaders could learn a thing or two from Jackie Robinson and what he said.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards becoming more socially aware?
