Change is inevitable but coming to the realization that change is happening or that it is even necessary is of utmost importance. As German teacher Eckhart Tolle points out in today’s quote the greatest agent for change is that of awareness. In this instant, it is that social awareness piece it is having the the ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures. It is where we come to understand how social and ethical norms affect behavior and learn to recognize family, school, and community resources and supports.
Change does in fact start with us and we are capable of being that change agent for the greater good. The good goes beyond our own intentions, wants and desires and becomes the intentions, wants and desires of others. The potential impact we can have on the world around us is limitless. To me it is a no brainer decision in being the change we wish to see in the world.
