Pay Attention
“The only way to listen well is to pay attention to someone else.”
-Matthew Del Negro
Often times one of our biggest struggles is to actually listen to what someone else is saying without giving them our advice or feelings about a certain topic. Sometimes the people who are talking to us don’t want us to do anything but listen, to pay attention to their words and what they find is important to share with us. Today’s quote by author, actor and podcaster Matthew De Negro reminds us of this because we need to be careful not to fall into the self absorbed trap where we are only concerned about what we want and not so much what others want. It is time that we look at things through the lens of someone else instead of only our own. The world needs more people to exhibit more grace and compassion towards others and what better way to do that than to pay attention to one another.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards becoming more socially aware?
