Becoming The Change: Keep Your Head In The Game (The Game Of Life)

“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”

-Harriet Beecher Stowe, from “Oldtown Folks”

Life can be an emotional roller coaster at times. And when we are facing what seem to be our darkest moments, with no resolution in siight, we have the negative thoughts of just throwing in the towl and giving up. As Harriet Beecher Stowe encourages us in today’s quote, we should never give up because that is essentially where the tide will turn in our favor.

This quote made me think of what a surfer goes through. When learning to surf, you are trying to ride the wave and avoid letting the wave ride you because when it rides you it causes you to crash and be thown off of your board into the deep depths of the ocean. It all comes down to practice, timing and lots of patience. Hitting the wave at the right exact moment is a work of art as is hitting those moments where what seems impossible in life becomes possible by persevering and sticking with it. It is a difficult choice we have to make to stay with something when it is easier to quit. However, if what we are pursuing is what we are passionate about, will help others and most importantly make this world a better place then we owe it to see it through. To stay the course. Give in to making it happen, not give up.

We are stronger than we think. We have it within it to stay focused to push through. It just comes down to our decision to do so.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
