Recognize Discomfort And The Challenges You Face And Embrace Them

“Discomfort leads to growth. Embrace the challenges and get better from them.”

-Jon Gordon

We often try to avoid things that will lead us to struggle and showcase our vulnerabilities instead of our strengths. However as author, podcaster and speaker Jon Gordon points out in today’s quote that discomfort we feel is a good thing. Why as educators do we promote and encourage productive struggle from students in class if we don’t expect them to experience that same productive struggle with what life will throw their way? We tell them to embrace the challenges before them and that they will only make us stronger. We need to practice what we preach.

Facing adversity is not meant to be like a light switch we can turn off on a whim. It is imperative that we leave the light on. That we face our fears head on. We either control them or they can control us. It is just that simple. Bring forth a level of awareness of those challenges you have and embrace the discomfort. You will overcome. I choose to be the owner of my own destiny and it is my hope that you do the same.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
