Let’s Create A Better World From the Inside Out

Speaker and author Damon West’s quote is one that I think really resonates with what is currently happening in our nation and also the world. Many of us feel very defeated as what is happening in various facets are things that are out of our control or so it may seem. Topics such as gun laws, abortion, voting rights, war, etc are often on what seems like a constant cycle and what never seems to rectified. No one it seems can look or take the time to look at things through the lens of those being affected by inaction or the action of others. Too often things of such importance are put into the hands of those that have the least understanding to make equitable decisions on the matter. Without saying specifically who they are, I am sure you know who I am referring to. I’m an educator, husband and father but that does not make me an expert on all of the topics I mentioned above and some of them do not even directly affect me. However, they do affect the people that I love, work, and are friends of mine. So, with that being said I guess they do affect me. Their voices matter. My voice matters. It is time that the powers that be listen to the voice of the people. These topics should be voted upon by the people and for the people. It should be in their hands, not in the hands of those who know so very little about these topics, their own people and in fact their own country. Let’s create the world from the inside out by allowing the people to have a voice once and for all if this is truly the land of the free and the home of the brave. Change for all of us starts from within.
