Dear Reader,
It is often said that life never stops teaching us, therefore, it is up to us to never stop learning. Education itself and the philosophy behind it, has been around since the beginning of time dating back to when our ancestors passed down from generation-to-generation stories of cultural beliefs, traditions, and history. And so, this book falls in line with a similar premise of storytelling as it pertains to education from the lens of a student, parent, educator, and citizen of the United States: me. Often books and/or blogs on education focus on one area whether it be a type of curriculum, behavioral or leadership strategy. However, in these series of blog entries, I wanted to provide a more holistic approach and focus on how each of us, no matter what role we play in the life of a child, impacts their education and future. This is a never-ending story that is still being written and will continue to be long after my time and yours. These blogs contain personal letters written by me to those that have the most impact on our children’s lives, ranging from parents to school personnel to those that serve our community. We have the opportunity, together, to change the narrative and education’s current trajectory by realizing that we all should have a seat at the educational table in doing what is right and just to make a better tomorrow for our children. United we stand, divided they fall. The “they” are our children, along with their hopes and dreams. It is up to us as a collective group to work together and get this right. It is my hope that as you read this, it empowers you to be the change you wish to see in education for a better tomorrow.
All the best,
