“Faith and fear both demand you believe in something you cannot see. You choose.”

-Bob Proctor

We are faced with decisions almost every day. Some decisions are simple, while others require careful thought and consideration. What many people fail to realize is that even choosing not to make a decision is, in fact, a decision itself. For many people, faith is practiced regularly through worship, prayer, or personal beliefs. Faith requires believing in something that cannot be physically seen. It is trusting that things can work out even when there is no guarantee of the outcome. Similarly, fear also asks us to believe in something we cannot see. Fear convinces us that things will go wrong, that we may fail, or that we are not capable enough to succeed.

Think about a child who is afraid of the dark because of a monster supposedly hiding under the bed or in the closet. The child cannot see the monster, yet the fear feels real because the child believes it might exist. In the same way, faith feels real because we believe in possibilities, hope, and positive outcomes that we cannot yet see. The interesting thing about faith and fear is that neither is based on visible evidence alone. Both require us to place our belief in something uncertain. The difference lies in the direction that belief takes us. Fear often holds us back, causing us to hesitate, doubt ourselves, or miss opportunities. Faith, on the other hand, encourages us to move forward, take risks, and trust in our ability to overcome challenges.

Every day we face a choice. Will we place our energy into the “what ifs” that feed our fears, or will we focus on the possibilities that strengthen our faith? One mindset empowers us to grow, learn, and pursue our goals. The other can keep us stuck exactly where we are. The next time you are faced with uncertainty, remember that both faith and fear are asking for your belief. The choice of which one to follow is yours, and that choice can shape the direction of your future.

Start Your Day with Intention

What is one challenge or uncertainty I am facing today, and how can I choose faith in myself instead of fear when responding to it?

End Your Day with Insight

When I faced challenges or uncertainty today, did I allow faith or fear to guide my actions, and what did I learn from the results of that choice?
