Perseverance Goes A Long Way
“I do not think that there is any other quality as essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.”
-John D. Rockefeller
Overcoming impossible odds. Not giving up. It is that persistence and never wavering tenacity, despite the challenges that may be in front us, to rise up and make a goal or dream a reality. In today’s quote John D. Rockefeller focuses on the quality of perseverance being essential to our success and when we have this we can overcome anything.
Perseverance is a quality within our control and is something we all need to utilize now more than ever. We need to suppress our feelings of fear, anxiety, doubt and other emotions of negativity as these can poison those feelings of positivity like joy, hope and love. We need to dig down deep and find ways to regulate our stress and other emotions through things like exercise, meditation, or prayer.
Obstacles will always be in front of us and there is no easy pathway towards the goals we desire, even finding happiness. We need to challenge ourself. We need to be hungry and through some hard work and effort we need to believe we will make it to the other side. Perseverance is a mindset and you need to be unwilling to succumb to the negative things around you which includes the negative thoughts that can creep into our subconsciousness.
To think that life and all of our hopes and dreams will just be handed to us on a silver platter is only fooling ourselves. Helen Keller once said, “We can do anything that we want to do if we stick to it long enough.” So let’s take this challenge, which is within our control and stay on the path towards being the change we want to be in the world. We at least owe that to ourselves.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
