The Most Important Decision You Could Ever Make

“If you want to achieve something great, the most important decision you can make is to believe that you can.”

-Jaime Kern Lima

The summer of 1973 began the “Ya Gotta Believe” movement for the New York Mets baseball team and their fans as they wound up making it all the way to the World Series that year. One of their pitchers, Tug McGraw was the one who coined that famous phrase and that phrase’s meaning still holds true today: no matter what we may be facing in life ya always gotta believe in yourself or in others. It is in fact, one of the most important decisions you can ever make because without believing in others or in this case yourself, greatness can never be achieved.

American entrepreneur Jaime Kern Lima’s quote reminds us 47 years later that we need to make that decision, to believe in ourselves. It is in my opinion that we all have the capability of achieving and becoming whatever it is we want to be in life. The only person that truly can stand in our way is ourselves.

Remember when you believe in yourself you are accepting that something is true about yourself. For example I believed I could write this blog on a daily basis. It is by no means easy as some days it is harder than others to write about a particular quote. I believed I could produce a podcast and write a book. So far both have happened. And now I believe I will find a literary agent or publishing company to publish my book. If I don’t believe, I don’t achieve. It is just that simple.

Whatever you do, please do not ever deny yourself of making your dreams come true. No matter what things have happened in your past, don’t let it prevent you from your tomorrow. You have something great to offer this world, don’t deny them or yourself of that greatness. Believe in yourself.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
