Stay True To Yourself
“Stay true to who you are. Believe in yourself. Believe in the possibilities.”
Truer words were never spoken like the ones from Nigerian-American basketball player, WNBA star and ESPN analyst Chiney Ogwumike in today’s quote. Over the years people and certain experiences will test us. Test our character. Test our determination. Test our heart. What is crucial today, will be crucial tomorrow and the day after that. And this is staying true to who you are.
We are often reminded of this as kids when we are growing up and it is often tested when we become teenagers. We may have gotten encouraged to smoke, drink, do drugs, etc at parties but if we remembered to stay true to what we valued we avoided such things. Peer pressure is something that even occurs as adults but again if you know who you are then you will make the best decision for you and no one else. And if they cannot accept that, then they aren’t really worth your time. Remember that when you stay true to who you are is shows that you hold a certain amount of personal integrity and self-respect.
Believing in yourself is crucial on this never ending pathway towards becoming more self aware. It all starts with you and knowing what your limits and strengths are. It you have the belief that what you want for your life is possible. This an important decision to make and you always have that choice. Visualizing what you want, even creating a vision board to show exactly what it is you want in your life helps and will keep you focused o the goal at hand. And most importantly, take action and make strides towards achieving your goals.
There are so many possibilities out there. It just takes you taking that leap of faith by believing in yourself and stay true to who you are. You have the tools to be whatever and whoever you want to be.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
