Thank you for listening and we hope you consider subscribing to the podcast for future episodes.

Integrity Matters

“If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters.”

-Alan K. Simpson

Integrity. I cannot think of a more powerful and meaningful word when it comes to describing someone who is not only honest but has the strong moral principles deep within their soul. Former Senator Alan K. Simpson’s quote is one that is about as cut and dry and to the point as you can make it. Everything about a person and who they are comes down to one question: Do they have integrity or not? Because when all is said or done nothing else really matters.

The Power of Positivity website has a list of 10 attributes that serves as a good reminder as to how we can tell if someone has true integrity:

  1. They take responsibility for their actions.
  2. They put others’ need above their own.
  3. They offer to help others in need.
  4. They give others the benefit of the doubt.
  5. They choose honesty in all things.
  6. They show respect to everyone.
  7. They manifest humility.
  8. They are able to admit they’re wrong.
  9. They show regular reliability.
  10. They convey true kindness.

As you can see a person with integrity is the one that takes actionable steps to serve the needs of others and put those needs ahead of their own. They are selfless and genuine. Better yet they not all only bring out the best in others but also in themselves. I think this world needs a lot more people that have those qualities mentioned. The more people we have with integrity I think the world would be a better place and integrity is needed now more than ever.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
