The Starting Point of Achievement

“Strong, deeply rooted desire is the starting point of all achievement.”

-Napolean Hill

In order to reach any achievement self help author Napolean Hill says in today’s quote it all starts with a desire or drive within us to create that roadmap towards achieving anything. The author of Think and Grow Rich believed that if we are intensely enthusiastic or passionate about our own expectations it becomes the essential and necessary ingredients towards improving our own lives.

We all have things that we want to or wish would happen for us or for others. I like to view desire as being that starting line that we approach before a race would begin. In this particular case that race is actually our starting point towards what we are wanting to achieve. From that starting point we see the goal before us or the finish line and there is a sort of ora or energy that now surrounds us, that makes us want to push through to the end even more. We know that by once we cross that finish line, we will forever be changed because we would have reached the peak of self awareness by achieving the one thing in life that we all try and do when life gets tough: keep moving forward.

It is through our own desire to do something that we are able to paint a better self portrait if you will as to who we really are. We are able to lay down the foundation for creating that much needed and desired level of self confidence and self efficacy. Self perception, self confidence and self efficacy are what I like to called the trifecta of self awareness. Each of these complement one another but it is the desire even in wanting to make it happen will provide the spark necessary to transition our thinking from hopes, dreams and/or wishes to creating actionable steps and goals to actually making it all become reality. As Bruce Springsteen once said in his hit song Dancing in the Dark “You can’t start a fire, you can’t start a fire without a spark.” So make sure you find that desire within you in order to create that spark.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
