Our Moral Compass: Let Your Conscious Be Your Guide

“Conscience is the most sacred of all property.”

James Madison

Let your conscience be your guide. Sounds like a familiar phrase doesn’t it? That’s because it is. Jiminy Cricket from the classic Disney movie Pinocchio serves as the wooden puppet Pinocchio’s conscience in his quest to become a real boy. President James Madison felt that conscience is the most sacred of all the things that one could possess. It is one of the those qualities in his mind that we should hold near and dear to our hearts. It is that moral goodness of one’s own conduct, intentions, or character together with a feeling of obligation to do right or be good.

There are times in our life when we are faced with challenges that we may not know the answer to in regards to which path to choose. This is where are conscience comes into play and is built upon what we value in life and what our true intentions are. We all want to do good in the world. We all want to serve others and take care of those we love. When we have this accurate self perception we are able to conduct ourselves in a manner that presents before others a well-grounded sense of confidence and optimism. It is through this that moral goodness and the intentions behind it take over which makes all good things for others possible. It is an event that can further help others to pay this moral goodness forward to others to enjoy.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
