Be Someone Else’s Light, Don’t Extinguish It

One of the books that I think the students at my school enjoyed the most that we read as an administrative team was called A Flicker Of Hope by Julia Cook. The premise of this book was obviously one of Hope which can be wishing for a better tomorrow for ourselves or for others. It reminded our students that dark clouds can be temporary and asking for help is always okay. We all have times when we need to borrow a little hope from someone else. The moment I read today’s quote my mind went immediately to this book and its message as there is such a strong correlation between the two. We should never intentionally extinguish someone else’s light thinking that it will somehow make ours shine brighter because it won’t. It is when we do our part, when someone that we care about needs our light to help reignite theirs. We are their flicker of hope and they are ours. It’s just that simple.
