Why We Are All Here
“I don’t think life is absurd. I think we’re all here for a huge purpose.”
-Norman Mailer
Life isn’t fair. Have you heard either you or someone else belt these three words out when you have become frustrated with a certain situation? I’m sure we all have. American author Norman Mailer didn’t believe that life is absurd or unreasonable. He believed that we were all here for a huge purpose. And I happen to agree with him.
Now is life unpredictable? Absolutely. Often times you will never get the same day twice. Life is only unreasonable when you allow it to be. If our moral compass is one that allows our values to be our guide when life throws us an unexpected curveball I am convinced we have the ability to overcome anything.
Knowing our purpose and why we exist, is what drives us towards being the best we can be. I’ll never forget in the original Superman with the late Christopher Reeve when his Step Dad tells him that he is there for a reason. I believe the same for you all as well: you are here for a reason. This is something that I think should be something that we say to ourselves everyday and should be our own mantra. What we put into our lives is what we will get out of it. If you do not know your purpose then it is time for you to do some soul searching and decide what your purpose is. We all are capable of reaching our highest potential but only if we truly believe we have what it takes.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
