The Price of Achieving Any Goal
“Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”

Nothing in life ever comes easy. Any goals that we work towards are attributed to the hard efforts we put into it. And it is this hard effort that legendary football coach Vince Lombardi says is the price we all must pay in order for any goal to be achieved. I believe that the efforts we are putting forth towards whatever goals we are trying to achieve are always and should always be focused with the end in the mind. Along with that we need to set checkpoints along the way to check in with ourselves so that we can see what is working well and what adjustments may need to be made. It is important that we take the time to self reflect because I think it helps us to better control our thoughts, emotions and behaviors while helping us refine our goal setting skills. To me hard effort is not that much of a price to pay of anything that we want to achieve that we deem is worthwhile. If it is important to us then we will do whatever it takes to get the goal achieved.
Vince Lombardi does say at the the beginning of this quote that leaders are made not born. Often times this is forgotten by most people because we see all of those that are considered famous, whether they are an actor, sports figure, politician or motivational speaker at the pinnacle of their careers. We need to remember they were not automatically born into that limelight. They too had to put forth their own hard effort to become the leader in their industry that they are today. Remember what we typically see is only surface level. It is much like that image of an iceberg where you only see what is above the water but it is what lies beneath that truly shows the effort behind the formation of that iceberg. It is what is underneath that is that hard effort. We are like that iceberg: working hard behind the scenes to achieve our goals and our dreams.
We have the power within each of us to achieve whatever is we dream of attaining. It is possible. We just need to believe in ourselves and realize that things will go our way through hard work and effort.
