The Difference Between A Successful Person And Others

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.”

-Vince Lombardi

One of the things that most of us desire is to be successful. Successful at work. Successful at home. Just successful in life overall. We all have our own set of standards that lead us to draw our own conclusion as to what success means to us. Now there is one important factor that determines the difference between a successful person and one that isn’t. Legendary NFL football coach Vince Lombardi said it is our lack of will that prevents us from being successful in life.

Lombardi dismisses the notion that someone’s lack of strength or lack of knowledge prevents us from being a successful person. He does not say why but I think this is because when you compare the attributes of strength, knowledge and will the first two are not detrimental to one’s success because there can be other attributes out there that can help you to overcome those areas in which you may be lacking. However, if you lack the will to push yourself and go get what you want out of life then you will never reach your full potential. Will is like the spark plug that makes everything else possible. This lack of inner desire will continue to contribute to countless missed opportunities for you that may never come around again.

We are in control of our own future and determine whether we will be self motivated to rise up to the challenges of our lives or falter like a house of cards.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
