“Contentment is the only real wealth.”
-Alfred Nobel
A state of happiness and satisfaction. That’s what contentment is. And as Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel says in today’s quote that contentment is the only real wealth. Many of us spend our entire lives having our eyes on the prize whether it is to be famous or accumulate lots of money. Both look great on the surface but lack the depth in holding our attention and quenching our thirst or in essence being satisfied. The problem is we will always want more and it will never be enough.
That contentment that we seek, that happiness and satisfaction can only be attained from within. Our moral compass, what we value, our principles, those are what can withstand the test of time. It is an emotional and philosophical bucket that will remained filled as long as we spend this type of wealth that we have accumulated towards serving others. It is through this that we will forever feel true and real wealth.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
