Our Moral Compass: A Spiritual Journey, A Spiritual Life

“The movement in myself from the mask to the face, from the personality to the person, from the performing actor to the ruler of the inner chamber, is the spiritual journey. To live, work, and suffer on this shore of faithfulness to the whisper from the other shore is the spiritual life.”

-Ravi Ravindra

Life is a journey and to International speaker and the author of books on religion, science, and spirituality Ravi Ravindra this journey is a spiritual one. I believe that this can only be reached when we rely on our own moral compass to lead the way. He describes in today’s quote that specific journey. When going from the mask to the face I think he means we start out using a similar mask that everyone uses to portray themselves to society until they discover who they truly are and come into their own so to speak. This further defines our uniqueness and how special we are.

When we move from a performing actor to that of the ruler of our own inner chamber is the journey of self discovery where we define our morals and values while recognizing that we are the ones who are in control of our own actions and decisions. He goes onto to refer as us living on the shore of faithfulness although at times we will have to work hard and endure some suffering along the way it is the whisper from the other shore, the spiritual side that becomes the beacon of hope we are all searching for. This is the ultimate journey of discovery and the path that we are all on. We can only get there if we let our moral compass lead the way.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
