“I figured something out. The future is unpredictable.”
-John Green
As Forrest Gump once said in the movie Forrest Gump: “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get” today’s quote by American author John Green is that the future is unpredictable: in essence we don’t know what we are going to get either. Because of the unpredictability we know that we can only control what we can control and that is ourselves and our actions. This why our reliance on our own moral compass is such a crucial piece into making our future a less cloudy one.
When we understand how our thoughts, feelings and emotions can affect things around us we learn to practice better self control. We recognize the need to be empathetic with one another and look at things through other people’s lens. We continuously strive to ensure that we have relationships that are formidable and trustworthy. This also includes the relationship we have with ourselves too. Every choice we make, the good and the bad, affects that unpredictable future that we all seek.
We need to remember to do a better job in slowing things down and taking it all in. Enjoy the moment while also remaining present in it. Use the skillsets within your moral compass to better yourself that can help lead you down a pathway that you can look back upon when everything is all said and done and be proud of.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
