Our Moral Compass: What Friends Are

“Friends are medicine for a wounded heart, and vitamins for a hopeful soul.”

-Steve Maraboli

Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
That’s what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I’ll be on your side forever more
That’s what friends are for

These are lyrics of the song That’s What Friends Are For that were made famous by Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and Elton John. The song itself is beautiful and so is its message that I felt coincides with American writer Steve Maraboli’s quote for today.

We all need somebody in our lives. Friends really are that medicine and vitamins we need to live a fruitful life. We must take the time to work on establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with one another because we need them as much as they need us. Friends help us not only repair but also thrive in this ever changing world. We cannot do it alone.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
