“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.”
-Simon Sinek
In today’s world we all work hard. At least I hope we do. But a question popped into my head as I was writing this. We may be working hard but are we doing so for the right purpose? Author and speaker Simon Sinek puts his own perspective on this notion in today’s quote because working hard should be for something we love, not for something we don’t care about which is called stress. Stress vs passion. One brings us anxiety and ill feelings while the other brings forth joy and inspiration.
Think for a moment what you deem you work hard at. Is it more of a have to or a get to? Believe me there is a huge difference. One you feel forced and is more of a compliance thing while the other is something that breeds excitement. In education you cannot fake it til you make it. It is either in you to love this hard work or not. The children will know if you love what you do and are passionate about it. My hope for you is that you take the time to reflect on what it is you work hard for and decide if it is for passion or not. If it isn’t find what brings you purpose and meaning. Once you discover it, the passion for what you love will overflow. It is all within your own control.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better?
