Knowledge Means Nothing To Anyone Unless You Use It To Do Something Great
“The world cares very little what you or I know, but it does care a deal about what you or I do.”
-Booker T. Washington
As we all know we are not only in control of our own thoughts but also our own actions. American educator and author Booker T. Washington reminds us that although what we know is important to us and to who we are, the world doesn’t care. It does however care about what you or I do with that knowledge. We can read all the books, take all the college courses and listen to all of the podcasts in the world but if all that we do is consume and never utilize this knowledge for the greater good it becomes in my opinion useless.
The thing is this: we know what needs to be changed for the greater good. This doesn’t mean things that are world wide problems. They can be those problems that are staring us square in the face each and every day: within our very homes and businesses. We have so much knowledge from being book smart and from the experiences we have had in our lives. The tools for greatness are within all of us but unfortunately we have not always taken the time nor the effort to truly enact true change. We may say we are going to do it when this or that happens but things only truly happen when we start. Just by starting creates momentum and creating momentum generates speed which makes it a habit. Once it becomes a habit it becomes part of us and those that work alongside us or are a part of our lives see this and without knowing it, it influences them and it may become a habit that they acquire soon.
All we need to do is light that spark within our soul in choosing to do something for the greater good based on what we know. I have a mantra that I am living by for the year 2021: Be The One In 21. Change, positive change for that matter can happen now right this second if you are committed to yourself, committed to others and committed to the process. We may not have all the answers but we do have one. And that is just start. Keep moving forward. Things will only get better by taking actionable steps.
What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards managing yourself better and making responsible decisions?
