Our Moral Compass: Aspiring for Greatness Through Service

“Not everybody can be famous, but everybody can be great, because greatness is determined by service.”

-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Fame. It is something that not everyone can acquire nor should it be something that we necessarily go out and seek. Fame is given to you for being popular with others whether it be because you are an actor or actress and/or be an artist of some sort. The chances for this happening to us is a small percentage. However as Civil Rights activist, author and speaker Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. points out in today’s quote we all have the opportunity to be great through our service of others.

Service equals greatness. Sounds easy enough doesn’t it? When we become aware of this simple formula we are able to focus our efforts in being great through serving others. As Shelley Janac points out in her article on 5 Ways to Serve Others on thequeeninbetween.com in order to best serve others we need to:

Serve Others With Time

Serve Others With Words

Serve Others With Actions

Serve Others With Money (aka donations)

Serve Others With Random Acts of Kindness

These five ways are just a few of the many ways we can best serve others. We need to move our efforts towards serving others today and make this world a better place.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards improving your self awareness?
