Our Moral Compass: Be The Light

“Always have the highest bar for yourself. Wake up everyday and no matter how crappy you feel, want to change something for the better. Do something that makes someone happy. Create something that inspires someone. Be someone’s light when they are hopeless.”

-Dave Grohl, American singer and songwriter

In life we the bar we set for ourselves is based on what we believe we are able and willing to achieve. We determine the height and the depths that we are willing to go towards becoming our best selves. In today’s quote by American singer and songwriter Dave Grohl his message essentially is everything that we doin life should focus on being the best we can be. We should want to change something for the better each and everyday through being that light for someone else by striving to make them happy and inspire them in their darkest hour. In doing so that really shows the commitment and dedication towards the relationship you have with them. The giving of ourselves, whether it be the time we devote to even just listening to them, being their confidant and advocate will mean more to them than anything else ever could.

Our sole purpose should be to fill one another’s bucket in life when it is empty with love and support by letting them know that they matter. We all have or will have lost our way, fallen down and needed that boost back up again even when we do not want it. It is in those difficult times that the comradery and compassion we innately have for one another shines through and we become that beacon of hope for others. Let’s make sure we take the time to hone in on the importance in each one of the relationships we have. The relationships at work, at home and with ourselves. Each needs it’s own sense of happiness, inspiration and light to guide them. Let us make sure that light within us never wavers and burns brightly for all to see and never waver

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
