It Is Time To Do This

“This is not a time for tinkering; it is a time for transformation.”

-Ban Ki-Moon

South Korean Politician Ban Ki-Moon once was quoted as saying “This is not a time for tinkering; it is a time for transformation.” The “this” that I believe he is referring to is life itself. Now what I really love about what he says is it should be a time for transformation, not tinkering. When someone is tinkering they are attempting to repair or improve something but it is a very casual way with often having a little or no effect. Now when someone transforms it is where they go through a thorough or dramatic change in their form or appearance. One of the best examples that I can think of is when a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly.

The question that people often run into is “How can I transform my life?” Jack Canfield, author of over 45 books and most known for the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series wrote about on his website a blog on 5 Simple Ways to Transform Your Life-and Change The World In The Process:

1. Focus on yourself first. When you focus on thinking positive thoughts, visualizing more successful outcomes, and taking positive action to achieve those outcomes, you are guaranteed to experience better results in your personal and professional life.

2. Commit to continuous self-improvement. When you dedicate yourself to a life of continuous self-improvement and growth, you remain curious and open and in a state of constant expansion.

3. View challenges as opportunities. When you cultivate perseverance and welcome challenges as opportunities to grow and expand your learning you will be able to achieve so much more in life.

4. Be generous with your wisdom. You can help create this world by actively facilitating the growth of others and the greatest gift you can give them is to share what you’ve learned and help them achieve more success in their own lives.

5. Go after your dreams – and inspire others to do the same. When you go after your dreams and start living life at your highest potential, you inspire others to do the same. And this will have a tremendous impact on the world around you.

So don’t just tinker your way through life, transform your life.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards defining/refining your own moral compass?
