Becoming The Change: Ambition vs Leadership

“Ambition is refusing to quit on ourselves. Leadership is refusing to quit on others.”

-Simon Sinek

Many of us have that innate and deep desire or as author, speaker and podcaster Simon Sinek mentions in today’s quote, that ambition for refusing to quit on ourselves. It is that perseverance, that grit to be our best selves, helps us thwart off any desire to quit on ourselves. Ambition is strictly internal.

Leadership is external as it is based on our own actions and those actions will affect those that we lead. Our refusal to quit on them, their hopes and dreams. For me this goes to everyone at my school not matter what position they hold from teacher to our Food and Nutrition staff.

The needs of the many (everyone I lead) outweighs the need of the one (myself). Let us channel our own ambition to not quitting ourselves to our leadership and promise to never quit on others no matter what.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your relationship skills?
