Its Up to Us

We all want peace. Peace with one another. Peace within ourselves. Peace is free from disturbance and leaves us in a state of tranquility. It really all starts and ends with us. If there is not a sense of peace within ourselves then how can we really expect to have it with others? We need to be cognizant of the perspectives of the people we interact with each day. This goes for not only the adults in our lives but children as well. Sometimes this is easy to do and sometimes it is difficult. The question is that when the opportunity presents itself to “look at things through their eyes” do we seize that opportunity to do so or are we more apt to just look at it from our perspective only?
I think today’s quote is a much needed one in various situations as it answers the question of “how” peace begins. Being empathetic towards others is the key to becoming more socially aware and lays down the foundation for appreciating the diversity of others. There is a significant beauty in our differences. We just need to take the time, and the interest, to recognize them. If we did the world would be a better place.
