“Don’t let perfection drain your passion. You’ll never be perfect. You don’t have to be perfect. It’s so much more powerful to be passionate about what you do than trying to be perfect at what you do. Passion > perfection.”
-Jon Gordon
If you had the choice would you choose passion over perfection or the other way around? Both can certainly be major drivers in being the best that we can be. The question is which one of these is the most attainable? Would it be the one that is without flaws or defects or the one where you exhibit a strong emotion or desire about something?
In today’s quote Jon Gordon reminds us that pursuing perfection can drain your level of passion because it is nearly impossible to sustain both. Perfection is an illusion and is truly unattainable. It isn’t a requirement either to being considered a success in life.
Passion serves as that motivator to pursue what you love. It is your why. Why you exist. It is what gets you up in the morning and what brings you satisfaction; not for the money but for the impact it may have on you and especially on others. Remember that we can control our passion but we can’t control perfection. Passion will always be greater than perfection.
