Becoming The Change: Going Forward Or Standing Still: You Decide

“There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still.”

-Franklin D. Roosevelt

In life we have many choices and we do not always know if the one we decide upon is indeed the right one. President Franklin D. Roosevelt encourages us in today’s quote to always decide on things that make us go forward in our lives. As he put it there are many ways in having this happen because any decision that moves you from your current position to a new one is a step in the right direction.

However, there is only one decision where no movement occurs and that is choosing to do nothing or in other words standing still. I am sure you remember playing freeze tag in school and how hard it was to remain as still as possible. It is like being frozen in time which is much like when we freeze in not making a decision on something. Time seems to stand still but in reality it is really flying by because time is constantly in motion and by doing nothing, golden opportunities are also flying on by.

We should always choose to do something in and with our lives to keep things moving forward. So it is my sincere hope that we always remember to as Dory says in the movie Finding Nemo, just keep swimming and choose to go forward towards a better tomorrow.

What does this quote mean to you and how can you apply today’s message towards developing your responsible decision making skills?
